FICAC President attends 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Union of Honorary Consuls in Sibiu, Romania – September 25-28,2025

The President of the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC), Hon. Nikolaos K. Margaropoulos, Honorary Consul of the Philippines in Thessaloniki, Greece, was invited to participate in the 10th anniversary celebration of the Union of Honorary Consuls of Romania (UCOR), held in Sibiu from September 25–28, 2025.

The celebration marked a decade since UCOR’s founding in Sibiu in 2015, bringing together honorary consuls, ambassadors, and consular leaders to commemorate the organization’s significant contributions to economic and cultural diplomacy between Romania and the nations they represent.

The event was also attended by a delegation from the European Federation of Consular Associations and Corps (EFCAC), led by Hon. Consul Baron Haus, President of EFCAC and Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Belgium. The EFCAC delegation included several prominent members: Hon. Andreas Huber, Vice-President of EFCAC Honorary Consul of Austria in Sibiu, Romania; Hon. Nicolaas van den Griendt, Secretary General and Honorary Consul of Estonia in the Netherlands; Senator Dr. Ernst Wunderbaldinger, BoD Member of EFCAC and Honorary Consul of Portugal in Innsbruck, Austria; Hon. Dr. Guy Meyer, BoD Member of EFCAC and Honorary Consul of Brazil in Strasbourg, France; Hon. Jacek Tymiński, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Gdańsk, Poland; and Hon. Marek Stefan Listowski, Honorary Consul of Chile in Gdańsk, Poland.

The gathering also welcomed H.E. Rim Kap-Soo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Romania, and Consul of Germany Hon. Wiebke Oeser, alongside UCOR Honorary Consuls. The comprehensive program included high-level meetings with local authorities, among them Sibiu Mayor Astrid Fodor and University Rector Prof. Dr. Sorin Radu. Participants also explored Romania’s rich cultural heritage through visits to the Astra Open-Air Museum, the fortified church at Cristian Fortress, and the historic Alba Carolina Citadel in Alba Iulia, concluding with a wine tasting at the prestigious Bethlen-Haller Castle in Jidvei.

UCOR’s President, Hon. Andreas Huber, emphasized the organization’s commitment to building bridges between Romania and partner nations through diplomatic dialogue, cultural exchanges, and concrete economic projects.

A highlight of the celebration was the “10 Years UCOR” Gala, where the organization launched its Anniversary Album “UCOR – 10 Years of Economic and Cultural Diplomacy,” documenting the Union’s decade-long journey in fostering bilateral relations and promoting Romania’s interests abroad.
