2nd FICAC Energy Diplomacy Forum

The 2nd FICAC Energy Diplomacy Forum, organized by FICAC (World Federation of Consuls) in collaboration with the International Hellenic University (MSc in Energy Law, Business, Regulation, and Policy) was another major highlight of the Eurasian Meeting 2024 in Astana. This groundbreaking event brought together experts and policymakers from around the world to discuss the future of energy. The forum focused on energy transition and the geopolitical implications of energy diplomacy. Prominent speakers included: – Mrs. Clara Poletti, Commissioner of the ARERA – Autorità di Regolazione per Energia Reti e Ambiente, Chair of the Board of Regulators of the EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and ARERA delegate at the Council of Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER). – Mr. Rasmi Hamzeh, CEO Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF), – Dr. Theodore Panagos, Asc. Prof. at International Hellenic University, Former Vice Chairman, Hellenic Regulatory Authority for Energy – Dr. Komninos Komnios, Asc. Prof. at International Hellenic University, Board Member, Hellenic Regulatory Authority for Energy, Hellenic Energy Ombudsman – Mrs. Antonia Dimou, Head of the Middle East Unit at the Institute for Security and Defense Analyses, Greece; and Associate at the Center for Middle East Development, UCLA University of California, Los Angeles – Mr. Zhambulat Sarsenov, Honorary Consul of Hungary in Kazakhstan and Vice President of WPC Energy – H.E. Marco Alberti, Ambassador of Italy to Kazakhstan, previously directly reporting to the Group CEO at Enel Group, the largest world utility in terms of green electricity generation and customer network, he has been coordinating International Institutional Affairs, providing public affairs support to the different Business Units, developing a variety of cross-sector multi- stakeholder partnerships with private and public entities on energy transition, climate change and geopolitics of energy. The forum was moderated by Loukas Katsonis, Chairman of the board, of Foreign Affairs Institute, Greece, ensuring engaging and insightful discussions throughout the event. Discussions focused on how the energy sector is evolving, with an emphasis on sustainable energy practices and the need for cross-sector collaboration. The forum provided a platform for sharing knowledge, ideas, and strategies on how countries can navigate the changing energy landscape while promoting sustainability and international cooperation.
